How to Get Started with Our Super Orthodontic Office
Dr. Gutierrez and the rest of our Super Braces of Southbridge team can’t wait to get to know you at our Southbridge orthodontic office. We aim to create a productive and positive experience at each appointment. We also want to make sure that you have everything you need to be fully prepared for your visit. Your First Visit
When you first arrive, one of our front office team members will greet you with a warm smile. They’ll check to see whether you’ve completed your new patient paperwork; if not, we’ll hand you a series of forms to fill out so that we get a better idea of your unique situation. Afterward, you’ll spend some time meeting with Dr. Gutierrez. Together, you’ll go over your orthodontic concerns. After examining your mouth, she’ll review your treatment options and help you select the one that best meets your specific needs.

Medicaid Accepted
We understand that many of our patients rely on MassHealth rather than private insurance plans. We will not only accept MassHealth, but we’ll also go over your benefits with you to make sure you’ll fully maximizing your available coverage. Oftentimes, it will cover necessary orthodontic care. Once we’ve developed a recommended treatment plan based on your specific needs, we can come up with an ideal way to arrange for payment.

For patients who don’t have dental insurance or Medicaid to mitigate the cost of orthodontic care, we can talk to you about breaking up your payment into smaller installments via a program called LendingPoint. This third-party financing company offers various plans based on each patient’s financial situation; many of them even come with low or even zero interest. How to Handle Common Orthodontic Emergencies
If an orthodontic emergency occurs, the first thing you should do is call our orthodontic office right away so that we can immediately schedule an appointment for you. To prevent disruptions to your treatment plan, it’s crucial that we repair your braces as soon as possible. Until your appointment, there are ways you can handle an emergency. We can even provide guidance over the phone if need be.
Broken Bracket
In some cases, the bracket may still be connected to the archwire. If this is the case, you can return it to its original position with a cotton swab and hold it in place using orthodontic wax (which can be found at your local pharmacy or grocery store). You may notice cuts or sores develop as the bracket rubs against your mouth’s soft tissues; rinsing with saltwater can help these areas heal more quickly.
Poking Wire
Use a Q-tip to gently adjust the wire. If possible, push it so that it lays flat against the tooth. To prevent discomfort from the wire from pushing into your gums or cheeks, you can put a small amount of wax on wire’s tip. If absolutely necessary, you can cut the end of the wire off with a small set of clippers; just be prepared to catch the metal piece with gauze or tissue.
Oral Pain & Soreness
It’s perfectly normal to feel some soreness for a day or two after getting your braces or having them adjusted. During this time, stick to a soft food diet, and rinse your mouth with saltwater at regular intervals.
